Watching PAA with PAA

Last Sunday me and dad decided to step out and have some fun J and hence roamed around a bit and visited Mint Masala for lunch - of course I ordered a tricolor salad and Broccoli rice only to hear my dad groan for the fact that even there he would get only the exotic stuff and nothing normal…. But must say we did enjoy the service, food and ambience (nope am not giving Food code as Rocky and Mayur do in HOMP). For those who don’t know what is HOMP – it’s a food show on NDTV Good times!!
We headed to Fun cinemas straight from there and settled ourselves to watch Paa… As usual I did have a set of pre conceived notions abt the movie. Unlike wat the reviews said I felt that the movie is neither a father – son – son father story nor a mother – Son story but it is all about celebration of relationships.
The support Vidya gets from her mother when she states the situation, and the kind of protectiveness that Paresh Rawal exhibits on his son’s well being and career talks about the strong bonding of the relationship. Auro’s friends - the cute bunch who want to ensure he is safe, and Auro’s last wish to bring his parents together, is again a strong expression of relationships….
Of course the base line of the story is Progeria but the beauty of this film is that its every character has its own strength and sensibility. The quick witted Auro who is a half adult and half child makes you laugh and cry… Vidya’s emotional yet bold character makes an impact!
It’s a normal story told differently. Paresh Rawal and Arundhati Nag play the role of the kind of parents who not only raised their children single handed but inculcated strong values into their off spring. Abhishek has definitely climbed the learning curve and deserves appreciation for his acting in this movie.
The kids who have played Auro’s friends kind of gave me a jolt with their vocabulary I must say!! But my dad thoroughly enjoyed the movie for nothing other than Auro’s performance. A MUST WATCH!!

2012 in 2009

Hi…… the inner circle has been pushing me to write a blog for a while…. But it took me 2012 to start the same…LOL!! HO I meant the movie by the way!! Yes the same JOHN CUSACK starrer, John am sure is an all time favorite for all of u who watch HBO … at least I am :)

Now about how we ended up watching this movie on a working day after office hours… to give you a flash back.. We the bunch of 5 of us at office has been a constant part of a discussion which is - planning of an outing/ trip blah blah… but had never been fortunate enough to actually make it happen. One Wednesday of November the usual suspects (Christelle and Harsha) came up with an idea of watching the movie 2012 and each one of us ended up with one or the other reason and asked for a reschedule, but of course Athikh UR Rahman (of the call me Athikh fameJ) told us that it either had to be today or never!!

So with that khabardaar we were all excited about the evening since we were in the make it happen mindset… of course none of us were quite sure if the excitement was about the first and only time out or the movie ….. Since Chris was soon deciding on her KT (L). With the decision made we all were pretty much glued to our laptop screen to ensure none us end up with last minute work. At 6.30 PM finally we leave and walk to REX (it’s a 5 min walk from office) and on the way me and LAX are already contemplating on the ticket availability.

HURRAY!! We finally made it… and settled down and instantly got carried away with the scene that was then being played on the big screen… personally I enjoyed the movie every bit… I had a mindset that it would be a normal – “hero, heroine and their family will be saved from the whole debacle.” But the story line kept me on the tip of the seat all through. Honestly after DEEP BLUE SEA this is one movie which was really a thrilling experience to watch. Of course we all have the best scene between us and still make fun of it.
This movie and the fun that we had that day will always remain as a very fond memory which we finally made as a group. Kudos to the 5 of us!!
